My problem with AI (Work in progress)

Everyone likes to think if you are against the current use of AI that you think “oh gosh AI is evil” but that is == just not true ==. I wanted to be clear that I think it's interesting, but the way it's built, powered, used, and the imbalance of power I at this time don't think there is really any good use as it stands today. Time and time again studies, lawsuits, and results show it's overwhelming problems can't be overlooked. #### Key points #### * All current models and use is trained on stolen work in a way no other product or service in history has been, I have yet to see any main models ask for permission from all content sources before using. [f1] * It uses so much power that it's out pacing infrastructure, clean energy production, and ignoring safety and heath studies. The makers of AI chips are actively designing them to use more and more energy with each update not less. [f2] * Costs for new infrastructure is being passed to people who live in the areas they are being built, even when majority of people in the area say no they are being ignored. [f3] * It’s incomplete, and does not understand a lot of things because it’s just predictive text it tries to generate a response you will like even if it is harmful. [f4] * Being used to generate realistic images that are used to abuse, and attack people in massive scale. [f5] * It's causing breaches, security incidents, and is easily tricked to bypass protections and leak user data. [f6] If all points and maybe a few other small things where not true I would have no problem with a lot of what is being created, but as it stands it’s stolen work that gives harmful responses to vulnerable people and us abusing the environment in a way no other “invention” has in the short time frame we have had so far with it. #### Why I am against it #### I am against how it's been created, rolled out, and is being abused to harm people. I don't care if some are trying to fix X or Y unless all points are solved for fully I have NO interest in using it or integrating it into my services. #### Sources #### ** [f1] ** The Unbelievable Scale of AI’s Pirated-Books Problem: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2025/03/libgen-meta-openai/682093/ Op-Ed: AI art is art theft and should be a crime: https://www.theeagleonline.com/article/2024/01/op-ed-ai-art-is-art-theft-and-should-be-a-crime The Great AI Art Heist: https://www.chicagomag.com/chicago-magazine/march-2025/the-great-ai-art-heist/ The Great AI Heist: How Tech Giants Are Plundering Creative Work: https://secureainow.org/great-ai-heist-tech-giants-plundering-work/ ** [f2] ** ** [f3] ** ** [f4] ** ** [f5] ** ** [f6] ** Hackers Simply Asked Meta AI to Give Them Access to High-Profile Instagram Accounts.
